Bansko, Bulgaria

With this being our last student year together (snif snif), we decided to visit a place that we have all wanted to go to for a while now! Sooo, after gathering up (we're quite a crowd) we finally got to visiting Bansko ski resort. Bansko, or to be correct Банско  is a little village of Bulgaria located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and is a very popular ski resort.

Now none of us is an excellent skier, especially me, (being clumsy doesn't really help with sports!) so the trip was mostly to get into the winter-y feeling and fool around in the snow. The first piece of advice i can give you is to actually visit Bansko in winter time!!

Whether you are visiting Bansko with friends or with someone special you;re bound to have a good time. Don't forget Bansko is not just about skiing, so if you're not into that don't worry there are a lot of things you can do. My suggestions would be :

  • Walk around the village and visit all the little shops that practically sell everything!
  • Have a meal at any traditional restaurant.
  • Go out at night, the village center is full of pubs and bars.
  • Take the ride up the mountain with the Lift, even if you do not ski the view to the top is breathtaking!
  • If you're not brave enough to ski try fooling around with sleighs, we had a good laugh with them!
  • Last but not least make sure to have fun!
A big thank you to my friends for making this trip something to remember!
Until next time sending love and wishing happy travels! xxx

Ziogas Western City

Hello lovelies!

First post of 2014 so i wanted to share a sweet memory from last year!
And a good memory means good friends, beer and a new adventure! So being oh so adventurous, we decided to go somewhere near town that promised much fun.
So we ended up visiting Ziogas Western City! What and where is this you ask? It is a small farm that looks exactly like an old fashioned cowboy city,in Lefkochori, just half an hour from Thessaloniki city center. The farm is run by the Ziogas family, and offers you a day you will never forget, at least we won't!

There are  plenty of ways to spend your time on the farm. Apart from horse riding, you can feed the other animals, or challenge yourself to outdoor activities such as archery and shooting.  Sheriff Apostolos will teach you about horses, their behavior and how to handle them.If you decide to ride the horses, you can choose from numerous nature trails depending on time and money. The shortest trail lasts 10 minutes and the longest is a day long! The prices are very reasonable and the experience is definitely worth it!

Not the cowboy type? Sit down at the saloon and order yourself a beer or two and treat yourself to a good meal. A perfect way to spend your day!

P.S - Did you see my new friend Phoedias, the friendly python?!?

Milano in the holidays

Here it is, last post of 2013 and it couldn't be more Christmassy than this! 3 days in festive Milan with family for our Christmas shopping!

As you already know Milan is an industrial city and the capital of fashion, so don't expect to see many sights and touristy things in the city center and especially in winter time. But be prepared to be blown away by beautiful and quite expensive window displays!

Lets get started then my lovelies! A short list of what to do in the city with limited time in your hands!

Getting in town
-We arrived at Milan Malpensa airport which is about 45 minutes from the city center. There is a shuttle bus leaving every 20 minutes from the airport and drops you off at Milan Central train station. From there it is fairly easy to find your destination. Prices for the shuttle bus are 10 euro for a one way ticket and 16 euro for a round trip.

In town
- What you must see and cannot avoid is the Cathedral  known to everyone as the Duomo. A magnificent structure in the center of the city which is definitely worth a visit.
-Visit the Galleria Emanuele Vittorio, the oldest mall in the world! Right next to the Duomo this shopping arcade will surely amaze you at night time!
-Shop Shop Shop! Locating the stores and shopping malls in Milan is no hard job as they are literally everywhere! Designer brands from Louis Vuitton and Prada to Balenciaga and Givenchy all lined up together in beautifully decorated streets. Even if you don't buy something you must visit the window displays!
-Now if your budget is for something less expensive you can always visit Corso buenos aires for a little something cheaper!
-If you have time locate the outlet malls and grab yourself a good bargain!
-Christmas Markets in Piazza Duomo is a pleasent break from the high end brands around the Duomo. Try local delicacies, sweets, cheese and wine and take something with you as a suvenir.
-Visit Teatro alla Scala and if you're a big fan of the opera go ahead and book a ticket.
-Art lover or not line up at the museum and visit Leonardo da Vinci's painting ''The Last Supper''.

Eat and drink
-We all know what Italy is famous for, pizza and pasta! Every foodies paradise including myself!
-Try Mozzarella, Parmesan, Prosciutto, salami and savour the flavors.
-Local wine.
-Have an espresso, i warn you, its strong!

Surely a great escape, this city is recommended for those who love good food, great shopping and hectic city life.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Spend it with people you love and enjoy your time!! Sending love and wishing happy travels to everyone! xxx
