Milano in the holidays

Here it is, last post of 2013 and it couldn't be more Christmassy than this! 3 days in festive Milan with family for our Christmas shopping!

As you already know Milan is an industrial city and the capital of fashion, so don't expect to see many sights and touristy things in the city center and especially in winter time. But be prepared to be blown away by beautiful and quite expensive window displays!

Lets get started then my lovelies! A short list of what to do in the city with limited time in your hands!

Getting in town
-We arrived at Milan Malpensa airport which is about 45 minutes from the city center. There is a shuttle bus leaving every 20 minutes from the airport and drops you off at Milan Central train station. From there it is fairly easy to find your destination. Prices for the shuttle bus are 10 euro for a one way ticket and 16 euro for a round trip.

In town
- What you must see and cannot avoid is the Cathedral  known to everyone as the Duomo. A magnificent structure in the center of the city which is definitely worth a visit.
-Visit the Galleria Emanuele Vittorio, the oldest mall in the world! Right next to the Duomo this shopping arcade will surely amaze you at night time!
-Shop Shop Shop! Locating the stores and shopping malls in Milan is no hard job as they are literally everywhere! Designer brands from Louis Vuitton and Prada to Balenciaga and Givenchy all lined up together in beautifully decorated streets. Even if you don't buy something you must visit the window displays!
-Now if your budget is for something less expensive you can always visit Corso buenos aires for a little something cheaper!
-If you have time locate the outlet malls and grab yourself a good bargain!
-Christmas Markets in Piazza Duomo is a pleasent break from the high end brands around the Duomo. Try local delicacies, sweets, cheese and wine and take something with you as a suvenir.
-Visit Teatro alla Scala and if you're a big fan of the opera go ahead and book a ticket.
-Art lover or not line up at the museum and visit Leonardo da Vinci's painting ''The Last Supper''.

Eat and drink
-We all know what Italy is famous for, pizza and pasta! Every foodies paradise including myself!
-Try Mozzarella, Parmesan, Prosciutto, salami and savour the flavors.
-Local wine.
-Have an espresso, i warn you, its strong!

Surely a great escape, this city is recommended for those who love good food, great shopping and hectic city life.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! Spend it with people you love and enjoy your time!! Sending love and wishing happy travels to everyone! xxx

24 hours in Dusseldorf

First thing that hits you, while landing in Dusseldorf in December, is the COLD!! But, having only 24 hours available to explore the city, we were willing to leave that detail behind! As it is a short distance city we were able to discover everything easily since everything is within a 10 minute walk.
So here it is the must do list if you're ever in Dusseldorf  near Christmas time.

What to do:
- Start by visiting the Rhine river. Walk down the promenade and appreciate the view even in the freezing cold! If it's not too chilly for you take a cruise tour down the river. Beer on the boat is unlimited!
- Get lost in the alleys of the old part of town, Altstadt, also known as the longest bar in the world. As you might have guessed this is where the city's nightlife is.
- Visit the famous Koningsallee shopping street and spoil yourself! (hope your credit cards are full)
- Definitely visit every single Christmas market you can find! They are literally everywhere and sell everything, from food and drinks to Christmas ornaments and crafts.

Eat and drink:
- Every type of sausage you can! In a bun, in curry sauce..
- Drink mulled wine and hot chocolate from the Christmas markets. (you can keep the mug as a souvenir)
- Must try the local Alt beer! There are five microbreweries in the old town.
- Schnitzels and a pretzels, this is after all the place to eat them!!

So here you have it my dearest traveler, Dusseldorf in just 24 hours! If you're planning a visit soon i hope you get wonderfully lost in this beautiful city!! x

Pozar Thermal Baths

This little corner of heaven is located near Loutraki in the capital of Pella. Surrounded by wild green vegetation and natural waterfalls it is an amazing sample of nature's finest work. The water running down the thermal river and forming into 2 waterfalls is always 37⁰C warm giving you a chance to dip in, even in the freezing weather of December! Ok, so maybe getting out of the warm water and into the cold wasn't as pleasant as it sounds!

The Thermal Bath facilities of Pozar include 48 individual baths, 6 indoor pools, an outdoor pool, hammams, jacuzzi and spa services. The hot springs water is believed to be beneficiary for your health when bathing and drinking it. Although i would not recommend the latter!
Want to engage yourself in other activities? Follow the nature trails in the forest and discover the hidden prehistoric caves. And if you're visiting during the winter make sure to visit the Kaimaktsalan ski resort.

P.S: Don't forget your bathing suit!!
Hope you all have a great month full of love and travels!xx
