The Greek Series: Skiathos Island

Ok lovelies,

It's been WAY to long since the last time i shared an adventure.. In fact too long. Truth be told i had to focus on my college degree if i ever wanted to graduate! :P Good news is i did!! (yayy) So, like any travel junkie would do, i decided to make the most of my last summer in Greece! After a week of planning and scheduling i finally got to it. Three destinations in one month! Skiathos Island, Lefkada Island and last but not least beautiful Chalkidiki!! These were my top choices for this summer and i was lucky enough to have great friends and family to follow me on my journeys. I feel like i've been blabbing for too long so i'll just get to it! Here it is, destination number one in my Greek Travel Series, Skiathos Island!!

I'm sure most of you have heard about this Greek island before, and if not, i suggest you look it up! Known for it's beautiful beaches, fresh fish and hospitality, this island is mostly known for its nightlife! And trust me when i say the night becomes the day at Skiathos Island! If your looking for the perfect getaway with your friends then this is it! The island offers both serenity and non-stop partying so WIN WIN for everyone!

Now lets get more more specific. What to do:

- The island is full of amazing beaches so you can't go wrong with any of them! Most popular ones are Koukounaries beach and Bananista beach which is the hottest beach bar on the island!  Both beaches will blow you away with the amazing combination of crystal clear waters (you can literally see fish with a naked eye) andsparkly white sand (just like fairydust!). All surrounded by the greenest of trees!! Sounds amazing??Well it is! Be sure to visit both and drink plenty of cocktails!

-The heart of the island is the town center, this is the place to eat and drink! Full of fish tavers, cafes and cocktail  bars it is where everyone ends up! Be sure to visit the cocktail bars after 10 at night and see the island buzzing with life!

- Clubbing!! There are three big clubs on the island and you can't miss them! Opening at midnight and closing when the sun rises you must visit one at least for the experience!

-Take the boat cruise around the island and visit the most amazing  beaches you will ever see! To book a cruise just visit the marina one afternoon and you just have to pick the boat that catches your eye! Tickets are 15 euros and it is a small price for what you get!

-If you are aware with Greek writers, then visit Papadiamantis house, home to the famous Greek author.

Transportation on the island is easy as it offers a bus shuttle service which comes by every 10 minutes. It takes you to all the beaches and back to the city center until 1 in the morning. Ticket prices are up to 3 euros!

There you have it, my complete guide to Skiathos Island! Stay tuned for my next post for the island of Lefkada!! Enjoy your summer loves! xxx

Bansko, Bulgaria

With this being our last student year together (snif snif), we decided to visit a place that we have all wanted to go to for a while now! Sooo, after gathering up (we're quite a crowd) we finally got to visiting Bansko ski resort. Bansko, or to be correct Банско  is a little village of Bulgaria located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and is a very popular ski resort.

Now none of us is an excellent skier, especially me, (being clumsy doesn't really help with sports!) so the trip was mostly to get into the winter-y feeling and fool around in the snow. The first piece of advice i can give you is to actually visit Bansko in winter time!!

Whether you are visiting Bansko with friends or with someone special you;re bound to have a good time. Don't forget Bansko is not just about skiing, so if you're not into that don't worry there are a lot of things you can do. My suggestions would be :

  • Walk around the village and visit all the little shops that practically sell everything!
  • Have a meal at any traditional restaurant.
  • Go out at night, the village center is full of pubs and bars.
  • Take the ride up the mountain with the Lift, even if you do not ski the view to the top is breathtaking!
  • If you're not brave enough to ski try fooling around with sleighs, we had a good laugh with them!
  • Last but not least make sure to have fun!
A big thank you to my friends for making this trip something to remember!
Until next time sending love and wishing happy travels! xxx

Ziogas Western City

Hello lovelies!

First post of 2014 so i wanted to share a sweet memory from last year!
And a good memory means good friends, beer and a new adventure! So being oh so adventurous, we decided to go somewhere near town that promised much fun.
So we ended up visiting Ziogas Western City! What and where is this you ask? It is a small farm that looks exactly like an old fashioned cowboy city,in Lefkochori, just half an hour from Thessaloniki city center. The farm is run by the Ziogas family, and offers you a day you will never forget, at least we won't!

There are  plenty of ways to spend your time on the farm. Apart from horse riding, you can feed the other animals, or challenge yourself to outdoor activities such as archery and shooting.  Sheriff Apostolos will teach you about horses, their behavior and how to handle them.If you decide to ride the horses, you can choose from numerous nature trails depending on time and money. The shortest trail lasts 10 minutes and the longest is a day long! The prices are very reasonable and the experience is definitely worth it!

Not the cowboy type? Sit down at the saloon and order yourself a beer or two and treat yourself to a good meal. A perfect way to spend your day!

P.S - Did you see my new friend Phoedias, the friendly python?!?
